Mailing Lists
If you would like to set up a mailing list at Indus Hosting, you
can choose between one of the following options:
- Set up your own CGI script (widely available for free on the Net) that
will let you manage your mailing list via WWW. (See
CGI FAQ on our site for
more
information on setting up CGI scripts.)
Features:
- Depends on the script that you get - most of the scripts require you
to send the information to the list by posting it to the a web form.
- Web based administration.
Requirements:
- Only applies to our UNIX customers, not compatible with our NT accounts.
- You have to know basic perl in order to be able to set up the
script yourself.
- You have to find a free CGI script that will suit your needs or buy
one of the commercial scripts.
- Or for a one time $20 set up fee Indus Hosting can set up
a Majordomo list server for you. (See Majordomo FAQ on our
site
for more information on Majordomo lists and a sign-up
form.)
Features:
- You get an email address for your list (i.e., my_list@sharedhosting.net or
my_list@my_domain.com).
- You administer your mailing list via email.
- Every member of the list can email the list by emailing the
list's email address.
- More option than the CGI based mailing list - you can create a moderated
or non-moderated mailing list, restrict the use of attachments, etc.
Highly configurable.
- Good for sharing information.
